Doors in fight over name

Squabbling between surviving members of the 1960s rock band The Doors is serious enough that a lawsuit over an insurance policy covering "advertising injury" should proceed, a federal appeals court has ruled.

In recent years, drummer John Densmore has waged a legal fight against Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek over touring as "The Doors of the 21st Century" with a judge telling them to stop using it.

Bahrain put Samurai to sword

BAHRAIN have stunned Japan 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier in Manama, while Iran let slip a two-goal lead in drawing 2-2 against Kuwait.

Bahrain midfielder Alaa Hubail was the hero for the hosts in Manama, scoring in the 77th minute to move Bahrain, unbeaten after two matches, to the top of Group Two.

Hubail headed home from close range, profiting after Japan goalkeeper Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi had failed to gather a cross from Ismail Abdullateer.

In the pool's other game, Thailand were beaten 1-0 by Oman.

Uzbekistan went top of Group Four after an impressive 3-0 win over Saudi Arabia in Tashkent.

The home side took the lead on the stroke of half-time through Timur Kapadze's header. Maksim Shatskikh doubled the lead midway through the second half and Server Djeparov scored a penalty shortly afterwards to seal victory.

PBS to air study on link between money, health

If you tell Dr. Anthony Iton where you live and how much money you make, he'll tell you how long you're likely to live.

The public health director for Alameda County said he was startled by the results of taking the county's deaths and mapping them according to U.S. Census tracts, a far smaller and precise geographical region than ZIP Code.

"There are hot spots of death where life expectancy is literally on the order of a decade shorter than other parts of the county," said Iton, who has been on the job five years. "That's pretty astounding. That's 10 years of life lost due to social conditions."

Iton, who appears in "Unnatural Causes: Is Inequality Making Us Sick?," a four-part PBS series that explores why social factors - economic status, race, neighborhood conditions - can be more powerful predictors of health and life expectancy than biology or even some behaviors such as smoking.
